Abstract

We live in a society of information with electronic computers. Computer technology has become an integral part of all health care and nursing education.
Nurses as individual and nursing as a profession must use computer technology in manner that enhances nursing care. The computerization of nursing area, however, is incomplete, and is resistented but it is being done gradually. One of the cause that the computerization is incomplete and resistented, is computer anxiety.
The purpose of this study is to determine the current level of computer anxiety of nursing student and nurses. Another goal of this study is to analyse whether variables related to demographic data have an effect on computer anxiety.
The results of the study were summarized as follows:
1. The mean of computer anxiety among nursing students and nurses was 83.35, 85.49 respectively and the computer anxiety level of nurses was higher than the nursing students.
2. The results that analysis of variance & t?test was applied, reveals that there were significant difference between computer education experience and computer anxiety (t=?5.80 p=0.0000), computer property and computer anxiety(t=?2.23 p=0.027), future computer using agreement and computer anxiety(nurses : F=6.1831 p=0.0160), recent computer using and computer anxiety(t=-7. 28 p=0.000).
Considering the above results, we could conclude that the computer education of nursing students and nurses is inevitable to and lessen their anxiety on computer, especially the education with hands-on experiences is required. Therefore, future research is needed educaion program development for lessening computer anxiety and developing computer education.
